Kayaking - Paxton House

Kayaking at Paxton house

Kayaking continues to be one of our most popular activities. New for 2022, Enjoy a paddle on the beautiful River Tweed. We will meet at Paxton House and paddle upriver, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the border county.

When do we offer Kayaking?

Our season runs from May to the end of October. We operate from Paxton house and paddle upriver. We run these trips on weekdays all through our paddling season. All available sessions will be shown on our calendar.

If you wish to book one space or have a large group and are interested in a trip, please contact us to discuss.

Equipment

We will supply the kayaks and your wet suit as well as safety equipment. In warm weather, you may wish to wear your own clothes, shorts & T-Shirts.

We suggest you bring footwear that you are happy to get wet, and some snacks. shoes should have laces so they don’t float off in the water. Training shoes are ideal.

You will need a swimsuit under your wet suit and a towel to dry off afterward.

Please allow 3 hours for this activity. This will include getting in and out of wetsuits etc.

Conditions

The minimum age for this activity is 12 yrs old and all children between 12 and 16 must be accompanied by at least one adult unless they have a private booking.

Weight Limits: We use a mix of single and tandem kayaks for this trip. Boats are issued based on the party make-up. We cannot guarantee that anyone will get a boat of choice. We simply don't have enough boats to do that.

The tandems have a combined weight of 200kgs and should be evenly loaded front and back. Our single kayaks have a higher weight limit of 150 kgs.

Remember you will be sitting in the boat for around 90 minutes without getting out. This is like sitting on the floor with your legs out in front of you and only a small cushion as support. If you think weight or agility may be an issue, please contact us to discuss.
