New in 2022 - Kayaking from Craster with spectacular views of Dunstanburgh Castle
This adventure takes place from the harbour at Craster and we travel North along one of Northumberland’s more rugged stretches of shoreline.
We navigate around rugged reefs, under cliffs, and visit hidden coves
and secluded beaches.
We start at Craster, where we meet you and issue equipment. Boats are already at the water's edge and we start with a short lesson on how best to control your boat, then head away from Craster towards Howick. We will explore the coves and reefs, and where possible try a little riding of the surf.
This trip lasts about 2 hours but we ask that you allow 3 hours for kiting up etc.
We will stop regularly to explore the hidden sections of the shoreline.
When do we offer this Adventure?
We run sessions from May - Spring Bank Holiday Weekend to the end of October however, the trip is weather-dependent, and we may need to change the direction of travel in certain sea conditions and travel south to Howick.
Meeting Point
We meet at our changing rooms and free car parking just outside Craster, near Craster Tower NE66 3SS.
Equipment:
We will supply the kayaks and a wet suit as well as safety equipment. In warm weather, you may wish to wear your own clothes, shorts & T-Shirts are perfectly acceptable (just remember the sun cream and that you will get wet).
We suggest you bring footwear with laces that you are happy to get wet, training shoes are ideal. Neoprene/wetsuit shoes are not suitable as we will be exploring the rocky shoreline.
Under your wetsuit, you will need a swimsuit, and a towel to dry off afterward. You are welcome to use your own wetsuit if you prefer.
Ability / Fitness Level: Beginners, as well as those with experience, are welcome on this adventure. But please remember that we will be sitting on your kayak for a while.
Age Limits:
This trip is for adults and over 16s only.
Weather
All activities at sea are weather dependent and your safety is paramount. Should conditions stop us from running this particular activity we will offer an alternate activity/date, failing that you are entitled to a full refund.
We will let you know in advance if we think the session will not go ahead
