We’d love you to join us and fellow supporters of the Hospice for a memorable weekend which gives you the chance to raise money for us, earn a huge amount of pride and self-achievement, whilst immersing yourself in rich regional culture with awe-inspiring history on each step of your journey.
As one of the oldest charity treks in the UK and offering a unique perspective of our national heritage, any history loving participants are in for a thrilling weekend. As the trek cuts through parts of Northumberland National Park, trekkers can be confident that this trek will be a perfect combination of heritage, architecture and picturesque landscape offering challengers the opportunity to see some stunning views of our region. During the course of the 26 mile walk, trekkers can expect to stumble across a number of Roman towers and forts, Walltown Crags and the unmissable Sycamore Gap.
The event will take the full duration of the weekend to complete. You are required to meet in Haltwhistle on Friday evening for a chance to meet all of the other trekkers, to enjoy a group meal and to receive a full event briefing ahead of the trek. After camping overnight, you will then complete the bulk of the challenge on the Saturday as you undertake a mammoth 15 mile walk. After a second night camping on the Saturday, you will then indulge in a hearty breakfast before completing the remaining 10 miles of the trek on the Sunday. Whilst the 26 mile walk is a phenomenal challenge, it is one of many events regularly hosted us and promise, that as long as trekkers pace themselves and walk to a reasonable pace, this challenge is more than achievable within the time frame.
